CocoVerse is a room-scale virtual reality playground for co-creation and communication. The system can be used by collaborators in a remote or same-time, same place setting, where the virtual and physical worlds align. Accurate spatial avatar movements give collaborators a strong sense of copresence. Users use direct 3D interaction to manipulate the shared environment and navigate within it. They can draw in 3D space, place and modify 3D object models, and use their 3D avatars to communicate with spatial and emotive gestures. This set of affordances provides a playground which is valuable not only for creative expression, but also for teaching and learning. Furthermore, the tool itself is open source and can be extended by others.
